White Limewash Colors

Far from the plastic look of standard white latex, white limewash has a soft, living finish that feels old and modern at once. From bright, clean alabasters to warm, creamy off-whites, its subtle high-low texture keeps walls from looking flat.

Bare brick, stone, stucco and plaster take limewash directly. Drywall and painted walls need one coat of Lime-Prep Primer first; it can be painted over in about 2 hours at 70°F with moderate humidity. Brush on two coats, plus an optional third. Ideally leave 24 hours between coats, though you can recoat once the wall is dry. A gallon covers about 300 sq ft over two coats.

Mix Limewash Densifier into the final coat on walls people touch. It reduces chalking and the need for a sealer, but it doesn't make the wall wipeable. For a wipeable surface, add Matte Protective Sealer over densified limewash only: two coats, 2 hours apart, starting at least 24 hours after the final coat. Don't overbrush. It breathes rather than fully sealing, so the wall is wipeable, not washable, and highly pigmented materials can still stain it.
