Terra Cotta is an earthy orange-brown with strong pink undertones. It suits traditional and modern rooms alike, as an accent or as the starting point for a whole scheme.

Natural lime, water and mineral pigments, brushed on in soft, overlapping strokes. Limewash soaks into the wall instead of forming a film, so Terra Cotta dries to a breathable, flat-matte finish with quiet movement. As it cures, calcite crystals form and catch the light, which gives limewash its soft, luminous depth.

Before you paint

  • Sample first. Limewash dries much lighter than it looks wet. Choose the 4 oz sample jar or hand-painted color card above, or browse all color samples, and judge Terra Cotta dry, in your own light.
  • Prep. Drywall and previously painted walls take Lime-Prep Primer first; bare brick, stone and plaster don’t need it. The wall prep guide covers every surface.
  • Coats. Two thin coats with a limewash block brush, plus an optional third for a denser color. Recoat ideally after 24 hours, or once the last coat is dry.
  • Walls people touch. On interior walls, stir Limewash Densifier into the final coat to reduce chalking.
  • Masonry. On brick and stone, inside or out, the finish can be distressed after application for an aged look.
